::Why Isn't Mariah A Big Hit In The UK Anymore ?::

::News & Messages From the Webmistress::

::That's a question I've been asking myself for a long time. Don't ::get me wrong, Mariah does have a huge fan base over here, it's ::just that a lot of her singles have not done aswell over in the UK ::as they have in the US. Butterfly, I still believe, Thank God I ::found you and Loverboy were basically chart flops. When you ::compare that to the 95 Mariah, every single reached the top ten. ::Mariah has only had 1 number one hit over in England, and that ::was back in 93 with Without you. The Rainbow Tour was a big ::success so why hasn't Mariah done justice to the British charts? ::Will Never too far do better or worse than Loverboy? Or will ::people prefer the traditional Mariah Carey ballad? One thing I've ::noticed about Never Too Far is that the video hasn't had a lot  of ::airplay, I've only seen it on MTV and VH-1 a couple of times. I ::guess we'll just have to wait and see if Never Too Far gets the chart ::success it deserves.

::For however long this Website may be around so will this tribute ::banner for superstar Aaliyah. I've been a fan of Aaliyah's since the ::beginning and I never realised how big a fan I was until she

   ::Passed. May she rest in peace.We Were Given a Queen, We       ::Were Given an Angel::

Mariah Leads The Way Aaliyah Tribute.

::Welcome to Mariah Leads The Way! Here you will find reviews of Mariah's latest live performances, latest videos, latest news and much much more! All news & reviews are written by the Webmistress::

Mariah's latest video "Don't Stop, (funkin' for Jamaica)" is getting great airplay on channels such as MTV Base and Kiss TV. This should be great news for Mariah, as "Never Too Far" didn't get enough airplay. I've seen a few Websites recently that have suggested that "Never Too Far/Don't Stop" were to be released on October 29th in the UK, when in actual fact the singles are to be released in November to coincide with the release of Mariah's movie "Glitter". So if you hear any of these rumours about the 29th, ignore them. To catch Mariah's new video in the UK go to channel 450 for Kiss TV (This is where you can request Mariah), and channel 447 for MTV Base. Also remember to catch "The Late Lick" Tuesday's at 10pm on MTV Base to see Mariah's latest videos and any latest news. Lambs, please request "Don't Stop" as much as you can. We need to get the video on charts such as the Kiss Hitlist, and the Lick Chart, so get dialling now!

::Mariah Performing at GMTV::

Mariah performed her classic hit "Without You" on GMTV, December 3rd 2001. We saw the performance on Wednesday's show and I have to say that I'm extremely angry over the comments the presenters made about Mariah. Before they showed Mariah, Fiona introduced her by saying "She's had more number ones than Elvis and the Beatles" and then Aamon Holmes replied by making this comment "And how many of those number ones can you actually remember?" Don't they know by now that it's 15 number ones in the US not in the UK? That was not the only comment Aamon made about our Mariah and if I told you everything he said you would be very angry. After these little comments they showed footage of Mariah with the troops and then they finally showed her singing "Without You". The performance did look like it was mimed but that doesn't matter as long as we get to see Mariah on TV. As this was GMTV, I was really disappointed because the performance was cut short. Next week we will see Mariah singing "Never Too Far" and I really hate to think what the presenters will say this time. Why does Mariah even bother promoting herself on shows like GMTV? Whenever she is on this show all they do is badmouth her. I just hope Mariah has grown wise to this and that next time she is in the country she will concentrate on being on shows that actually appreciate her like CD:UK.

::Greatest Hits Review::

Mariah's latest album "Greatest Hits" should have a lot more actual 'greatest hits'. Most of the tracks are taken from the 1's album, which was released back in 98. Songs like "The Roof",  "Petals" and "Breakdown" need to be heard. Although these singles were never released they are the fans favourites. The album does feature songs that didn't do that well in the charts such as "Can't take that away (Mariah's theme)", "Anytime you need a friend" and "Butterfly". Hits that we all know and love are "Vision of love", "Hero", "One sweet day" and "I'll be there". Overall, another great collection of Mariah hits, but a little disappointing because of the similarity to the 1998 release "1's".

::Mariah on SMTV and CD:UK::

On Saturday December 1st Mariah was live on SMTV's CHUMS as Cat's Maid of Honour. Other stars such as Dane Bowers, Denise Van Outen, Hear' say and Frank Skinner joined Mariah in the skit. This episode of CHUMS was hilarious and it was great to see Mariah enjoying herself. After SMTV Mariah then performed "Never too Far/Hero" on CD:UK. I've heard rumours that she was miming but nonetheless the performance was still perfect.

::Mariah at the TOTP Awards in Manchester::

On Friday 30th November Mariah performed for the first time in the UK since her very public breakdown in July. The Top Of The Pops Awards also featured artists such as Nelly Furtado, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minoque, So Solid Crew and Westlife. Mariah was the second act to perform and she sang the "Hero/Never Too Far" medley. Half way through the performance she was joined by Irish boy band Westlife who also teamed up with Mariah to re-record "Against all Odds". Of course there were more rumours that Mariah was miming but I couldn't actually tell that she was. Incase any of you are wondering why Mariah was miming to all of her performances this time England there were rumours that she did infact have a cold. I don't think anybody would want to sing when they are not well, plus Mariah doesn't make a habit of miming.
